Entry Policy

The medallion issued at Troll is your receipt for the event and must be visibly worn at all times. Car tags will be issued and must be displayed clearly on the dashboard. If you loose your medallion or car tag, a replacement will be issued at Troll. Participants will be required to make an attempt at pre-17th century clothing.

Land Allocation

Single camping is welcome, as well as all tentage, whether modern or period.

Groups wishing to camp together must pre-reserve space. Each group MUST have a land agent to represent the group. For group camping, ensure that all group members are pre-reserved and submit a request for a group camping space to the Land Steward.  When making reservations, ensure everyone camping together puts the same group name in the "camping with" section on the registration form.

Fieldside Day Pavilions

Please contact the Field Steward to reserve field space next to the arenas. There will be no overnight sleeping allowed in field-side day pavilions.

Fire Safety

Torches must be staked in a firm and stable fashion. Do not ignore the extreme danger involved in knocking over a burning torch.
All camps must have at least one fire extinguisher and/or buckets of water near the source of flame.
There must be at least 10 feet between fire pits and tents.
At the end of the event, all left over fire wood, whether charred or not, must be taken with you or placed along the tree line so as to be out of the way of lawn mowers. PLEASE be sure ashes/coals are cool to the touch before disposing.
If you dig a hole, fill it in!

Tent Heaters

We cannot over-emphasize the lethal dangers of asphyxiation and carbon monoxide poisoning! Please use common sense when running propane heaters, ESPECIALLY in unventilated enclosures (tents). We recommend extinguishing heaters and lanterns BEFORE bedding down. Watch over your friends and your camp-mates. If you use propane for anything, consider investing in a battery-operated Carbon Monoxide Detector for your tent.

    Sanitation

Please carry your trash to the dumpster located near the main entrance, or take it with you. Please do not leave it on the roadside! Remember our SCA tradition of leaving a site cleaner than we found it.

    Merchants

After checking in with Troll, Merchants should seek out the Merchant Liaison for site assignments. Vending outside the designated merchant areas is prohibited.

    Showers

There are hot showers in the farmhouse. Currently in-camp showers are not feasible, as the water supply is too limited.

    Supplies

Some merchants have food, ice, firewood and other necessities. Nearby stores are listed on the Site Info page.

    Special Needs

The War of the Wings site (Elchenburg Castle) is a large festival site located in a rural area. Activities are outdoors on farm land that is used as a cow pasture when it is not in use for festivals. Areas of the site are connected by a dirt and graveled road and grassy footpaths (there are no paved sidewalks or roads). To navigate around the site, attendees must be able to walk or use a wheelchair to move to where the activities are happening. There are handicap-accessible porta-johns around the site.

    Golf Carts

Please note that golf carts are for Staff/Security and emergency use ONLY. If you are in need of assistance in getting about, the use of motorized chairs (ie. Rascals) is permitted. Please make proper arrangements.

    Lost and Found

If you find something, please turn it in at Information Point. If you have lost something, check there to see whether it has been turned in. After the event, found items will be listed on the website.

    Waterbearing

Water-bearing stations will be paired with chirurgeon stations. We'd love to have your help! Please sign up at Volunteer Point.

    Royal Liaison

The Royal Liaison for War of the Wings is Meadbh the Handy (Mindy Sellers), theoilmaven@yahoo.com.
