Image coming soon, she's still working on it!
This year's beautiful Quilt by Dame Morwenna Trevethan is a series of concentric diamonds in rainbow colors. It is an extra-long queen (82" x 102") so it will fit nicely on almost any adult bed, including king-size. The quilt is machine-stitched and hand-tied for durability. The design and colors serve a two-fold purpose. (A full-sized image will open in a new window when you click on the photos below.)

First, because the proceeds from the quilt's raffle will benefit the American Cancer Society and its research to conquer all forms of cancer, the colors reflect the ribbons used to denote support for the specific efforts. (See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_awareness_ribbons) .
Second, as Kermit the Frog once said, rainbows are for dreamers. So it also was made to honor all the members of the SCA, past, present and future: those in service to The Dream.
Baroness Morwenna Trevethan has created handmade quilts to be raffled as part of the fundraiser in the past years. She has graciously offered up the work of her hands and heart once more for WoW V. (A full-sized image will open in a new window when you click on the photos below.)

The quilt was made to honor all my mothers and sisters, whether related by blood or by love, who have fought this insidious foe. The quilt is an extra-long queen (82" x 110") so it will fit nicely on almost any adult bed, including king-size. It is machine-stitched and hand-tied for durability. The design is an Elchenburg Star shimmering in the center of the quilt. The colors were chosen based on the two worthy opponents for this year's War: shades of red for Stierbach, and shades of grey ranging from nearly white to cinder-block grey to castle-slate grey for Sacred Stone and the site at which we meet each year.
This year's quilt was made specifically to honor Duchess Arielle the Golden. 'Her Grace' was more than just her title; it was a two-word summary of her most notable quality, along with dignity, strength and courage. The quilt is based on the Radiant Reflection design, and was chosen along with the fabric many months before Arielle's passing. The colors come from her heraldry. Red and yellow/gold formed the radiating reflected pattern on the top, while an elegant white floral on black was used for the backing. Like the previous quilts, it is an extra-long queen size (90" x 106"), so it will fit nicely on almost any adult bed, including king-size. It is machine-stitched and hand-tied for durability. (A full-sized image will open in a new window when you click on the photos below.)

This is being given in honor of my mother and one of my sisters (both of them breast cancer survivors), as well as my Baroness and a recent Queen, women of surpassing grace and courage.
The quilt is an extra-long queen (94" x 105"), so it will fit nicely on almost any adult bed, including king-size. (My own similar quilt is used regularly on my king-size waterbed.) It is machine-stitched and hand-tied. The colors are blue and white, in honor of our fair kingdom. They range from a frosty bluish white to a very dark royal blue. The design is based on the 'Lover's Knot' quilt pattern, because even in the best of kingdoms, relationships and friendships sometimes get a bit tangled and knotted up. But, because the SCA is also about having fun and enjoying our various activities, the backing is pure whimsy: kings and queens, dragons and castles, jesters and knights, and even some damsels who may or may not be in distress.
Baroness Morwenna has graciously donated this quilt for the Breast Cancer auction which is being held on Friday night. Tickets will be sold all weekend and the winner announced during court on Saturday. Her description of the quilt is below the photo. This is being given in honor of my mother and one of my sisters (both of them breast cancer survivors), as well as a recent Queen of surpassing grace and courage. As of three weeks ago, the quilt is finished.
The quilt is an extra-long queen (82" x 110"), so it will fit nicely on almost any adult bed, including king-size. (My own similar quilt is used regularly on my king-size waterbed.) It is machine-stitched and hand-tied. The design is based on the Log Cabin quilt pattern. The colors are those of the two opponents: green, white, and black, with gold embroidery floss used for the tieing. The actual layout of the design is somewhat of an allegory of the event. Our 'conflict' with the Barony of Black Diamond is at the center of this year's War, so there is a black diamond (which actually comes out more grey or soft black) at the center of the quilt. Because Black Diamond will be beset on all sides by Sacred Stone during the War, the center diamond is surrounded by four soft green diamonds. Because of the way the quilt blocks are laid out, the quilt ends up with sets of green or greyish-black wings surrounding the diamonds. (You may have to use a small bit of imagination here.) The 'backing' (financial) for this event comes from Sacred Stone, so the quilt backing is entirely green.
